One Tree Hill fans can breathe. As she unveiled yesterday its program schedule for the 2011/2012 season, the American network CW announced in the wake of the series would return for a ninth season. According to U.S. media, One Tree Hill (OV) will return to air in January 2012 in the United States for 13 new episodes, less than the usual 22.
And while the late Scott Brothers has been announced many times, this time, season 9 should be the last! This renewal is seen as last minute surprise. While the hearings were not looking good for season 8, the most cast members had their contracts ended this month and negotiations will be difficult.
The future of One Tree Hill was so uncertain that the series creator Mark Schwahn had shot two different endings for season 8, if the series would be canceled by the channel. One Tree Hill was eventually rescued and joins the list of series of CW already renewed for next season: Gossip Girl, 90210 Beverly Hills, New Generation, Supernatural and Vampire Diaries.
