Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver are separated after 25 years of marriage

The former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, have announced their separation after 25 years of marriage. The couple had celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on 26 April. The journalist has left the family mansion in the suburb of Brentwood (Los Angeles).

Both have issued a statement which explains: "being a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us." "After much thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we have reached this decision together. Right now we live apart while we decide the future of our relationship, "he added.

"We continue to be the parents of our four children, aged 14, 18, 20 and 21. They are light and the center of our lives, "they argue.
