The former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, have announced their separation after 25 years of marriage. The couple had celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on 26 April. The journalist has left the family mansion in the suburb of Brentwood (Los Angeles).
Both have issued a statement which explains: "being a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us." "After much thought, reflection, discussion and prayer, we have reached this decision together. Right now we live apart while we decide the future of our relationship, "he added.
"We continue to be the parents of our four children, aged 14, 18, 20 and 21. They are light and the center of our lives, "they argue. Maria Shriver, 55, is a television journalist and member of the Kennedy dynasty Democratic strongholds, "as Schwarzenegger, 63, went from being an Austrian bodybuilder, a movie star as governor action to end California by the Republican Party.
The couple has always wanted to give an image of closeness and love, but among them there have been many differences that have been made public. In 2003 during the campaign, Shriver defended her husband strongly denying a report which spoke of their sexual histories with several women when I was an actor, but Schwarzenegger continued the campaign and won.
The actor left his post as governor in January after a difficult period and looks set to resume his career as a star in the film, and will return to star in a new film in the Terminator saga.
